Community Health Program
Communities in the developing countries grapple with a high demand of Quality medical services in resource constrained health systems. Community health services nurserange from mobile clinics, community health centers and private clinics. The support of health systems is fundamental for the realization of affordable quality health care services for communities.

Volunteers in the medical and nursing field may have superior training but may lack the kind of experience that health practitioners in the developing world have. In this program, participants with a medical background are able to get medical work opportunities that will transform their career. oOrphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) are those who lost one or both of their parents and live with distant relatives or in child support institutions. In most cases the OVC live under deplorable environments which couple with their stressful background may lead to emotional, physical trauma and depression to these children.

Volunteers working under this program area get the opportunity to live with the children at orphanages, children homes and day care centers and offer them play therapy and other psychosocial support activities.  This brings a smile on their face and shows them the much love that they lack. By collaboration with our partners, we are able to improve the capacity of local communities to address the needs of OVC to address issues of child welfare by building capacities of local community OVC support systems.Click to Apply

Education Support Program
bookEducation is an important aspect of sustainable development. A society that is not learning and acquiring knowledge is bound to collapse. By supporting education systems that deliver basic education to children, youth and communities, this volunteer program ensures that noble ideas of “free” primary education on other tertiary education services are realized.

The demand for quality education outstrips the supply of professional to community education centers due to lack of proper compensation of teacher. Engaging volunteers in teaching and interacting with teaching professionals aids information transfer in enhancing the quality of services to the communities in need of teachers. Fundraising Tips
CODEC Volunteers appreciate your desire to participate in our program and encourage you to support your stay in the destination country by raising sufficient funds. We understand that though our program fees are reasonable, they may be prohibitive for some people willing to participate. You are encouraged to have good fundraising prior to your visit to ensure that you meet your volunteer program fee commitment.

Fundraising will also enable you to raise awareness of your will to help people whom you will be working with in the project. In the African way of life are usually expected to carry a “basket” to show gratitude of   their visit. You may therefore need to buy toys, pens, books or gifts to please the children or gifts for your host family. It will also benefit you in creating rapport with the children. However, it is not mandatory and should come  “from of your heart”.

Fundraising may take you a while so you may need to allow six months or longer to meet your goals. You may raise adequate funds with dedication within reasonable time. Share your visit plans with your community back home to get the necessary support.

You can always contact us for more ideas on how you can fundraise for your trip.
