Our Programs Sustainable Livelihoods Program Through this program, volunteers are able to participate in change processes that impact positively on people’s lives. By providing new perspectives on initiating sustainable development, volunteers appreciate fully the need for participatory development for people to live with dignity. Moreover by encouraging functional interaction between volunteers and local communities a rich exchange of knowledge, wisdom and skills is achieved. Click to Apply Community Health Program Volunteers in the medical and nursing field may have superior training but may lack the kind of experience that health practitioners in the developing world have. In this program, participants with a medical background are able to get medical work opportunities that will transform their career. Volunteers get to have close interaction with local people on healthcare issues and are able to share their skills in medical support duties under the supervision of Registered Medical doctors, nurses and other health professionals.Click to Apply Orphan & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Program Volunteers working under this program area get the opportunity to live with the children at orphanages, children homes and day care centers and offer them play therapy and other psychosocial support activities. This brings a smile on their face and shows them the much love that they lack. By collaboration with our partners, we are able to improve the capacity of local communities to address the needs of OVC to address issues of child welfare by building capacities of local community OVC support systems.Click to Apply HIV/AIDS Response Program Volunteers have a great opportunity of working with People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs), their families and communities. Participants will also have an opportunity to participate in workshops, support groups activities and income generating projects established by PLWHAs. Volunteers have to be ready to leave shed value judgments always associated with HIV/AIDS and fight to improve the Greater Involvement of Persons living with HIV/AIDS.Click to Apply Education Support Program The demand for quality education outstrips the supply of professional to community education centers due to lack of proper compensation of teacher. Engaging volunteers in teaching and interacting with teaching professionals aids information transfer in enhancing the quality of services to the communities in need of teachers. Volunteers get to teach English and other languages that they are proficient with and also offer other education support services needed. Click to Apply Animal Welfare Program By providing support to the communities, volunteers are able to appreciate the value of animals in an African community. Volunteers work with Veterinary professionals to diagnose poultry and livestock diseases, inspect, and investigate on cruelty cases to ensure humane treatment. This volunteer program relies on the understanding that community that is able to stock, breed and maintain healthy animal contribute heavily to the agriculture industry. Volunteer expertise in this area of work is highly sought bearing in mind that agriculture is the mainstay of most developing countries.Click to Apply ICT & Media Program Fundraising Tips
CODEC Volunteers appreciate your desire to participate in our program and encourage you to support your stay in the destination country by raising sufficient funds. We understand that though our program fees are reasonable, they may be prohibitive for some people willing to participate. You are encouraged to have good fundraising prior to your visit to ensure that you meet your volunteer program fee commitment. Fundraising will also enable you to raise awareness of your will to help people whom you will be working with in the project. In the African way of life are usually expected to carry a “basket” to show gratitude of their visit. You may therefore need to buy toys, pens, books or gifts to please the children or gifts for your host family. It will also benefit you in creating rapport with the children. However, it is not mandatory and should come “from of your heart”. Fundraising may take you a while so you may need to allow six months or longer to meet your goals. You may raise adequate funds with dedication within reasonable time. Share your visit plans with your community back home to get the necessary support. You can always contact us for more ideas on how you can fundraise for your trip. |
