Who volunteers in your Volunteer Abroad Program?
CODEC Volunteers are very special people who share their vacation, holidays in a unique way that enriches their lives and touches the lives of many in a splendid way. Our volunteers get to experience life in Africa uninhibited. They(volunteers) all have one thing in common: - willingness to share in changing the lives of people in Africa positively with an enchanting experience of beautiful safaris.

Why should I choose CODEC Volunteers?
We have:

  • We are simply the best. Our staff is experienced in the social work and development field. We have adequate exposure to international visitors from diverse cultures.
  • We offer value for your money. The main aim is to benefit the community and at the same time enable you to enjoy the beauty of Kenya by efficiently offering quality services at competitive prices.
  • CODEC Volunteers also offer a comprehensive cultural immersion program to introduce the volunteers to our culture and orientation to the project.

Can I join your Volunteer Program?
Of course yes. To join our CODEC Volunteers Abroad Program you only need to be eligible to apply.

Why pay to volunteer?
Volunteers in CODEC volunteers program pay a reasonable fee to facilitate their stay in the country, support to the community project that they are volunteering in as well as for support and supervision they receive from CODEC staff. In normal circumstances the volunteers would undergo great hustles of planning their visit and selecting a project that suits them. Through our consultations services we are able to offer our volunteers best value for their money by offering a complete “Volunteer Safari” Package!

Moreover, most of our partner projects are non-profit organizations that are unable to sustain their operations without the support of our Volunteer Program. By interacting with these communities you will be able to understand how valued you are since you are able to see how you positively impact on people’s lives.

How do I pay my program fees?
We would want to ensure that your Volunteer experience is thrilling and rewarding. Our Country Coordinator will guide you through the process of making payments. We ensure that regular contacts with the Volunteer applicants make the payment process secure, cost effective and timely. Once the “hassles” of making payments are handled by our staff, you are guaranteed to have quality service and support throughout your stay.

Will I be safe in Kenya?
Kenya is known to be a “peace loving” and serene country. Nairobi, the capital city is open for international visitors and is known to be a favourite destination in Africa. However, you should ensure that you take necessary basic precautions to ensure your safety is upheld during your stay with CODEC volunteers. It is advisable to avoid wearing flashy jewelry, avoid walking unaccompanied at night, and attend to personal effects at all times especially while in the city.

Will I need to apply for a visa?
Visa application for all visitors entering Kenya is required.  You should apply for a Tourist Visa to enter Kenya and you will be allowed 90 days. Ensure that your passport has not expired and is valid for at least 6 months after your visa expiry date. This will allow you an opportunity to extend your stay if need be (as is the case with most volunteers who visit Kenya). We recommend that you ensure you apply for your visa before departure to be safe but visa application can be done on arrival once all requirements have been met. You will not need to apply for a work permit once you arrive since you will engage in unpaid work as a volunteer.

Will I require travel insurance?
It is very necessary to have a reliable travel insurance cover before you travel. You should ensure that your policy cover is adequate to meet your travel needs. CODEC volunteers recommend, you choose a policy that caters for visits to other countries at no extra costs. Try AAR medical insurance.

What are the arrival dates?
Our Volunteer Programs principally start on the first (1st) and third (3rd) Tuesday of each month. Hence, volunteer arrival dates are at least a day before the program start dates indicated in the table below.
